What is it?

Powerbond

Powerbond is not a carpet, it is a resilient sheet floorcovering of VCTT (Variable Tufted Textile) that has been manufactured by Tandus Flooring since 1967.

Powerbond has set the industry standard for sustainable flooring with award winning commercial installations across the globe that have been installed for over 40 years.

It is the first soft surface vinyl to provide an impermeable barrier to moisture and contaminants and also the only product that carries a 25 years non pro-rated warranty.

Unlike traditional or impervious-backed carpets, it is suitable for use in relatively high risk areas for spillages of blood, urine etc.

As well as in schools, it can be used in hospitals and community nursing units in place of vinyl or marmoleum which,  by their nature, create a very institutional feel. The DNA of Powerbond is its closed-cell cushion backing. This brings with it unique advantages:

  • Powerbond is as waterproof as a vinyl.

  • It has better thermal performance than any other thin finish, and

  • Excellent acoustic properties reduce impact and airborne noise.

  • Pre-applied adhesive eliminates VOCs and makes it quick and easy to lay and/or repair.

  • It can be installed on subfloors of up to 85% relative humidity.

  • Powerbond is still performing in many installations after over 40 yrs.

  • Powerbond has a lower Life Cycle Cost than any other floorcovering makes it ideal for PPP and PFI projects.
