Invented in 2001 by textile designer Sandy Chilewich and her husband, architect Joe Sultan, Plynyl has been embraced by the international design community, by firms such as Gensler in the US, Yoshimi Hono, Japan and Teorama, Spain.

It has been used in innovative commercial designs for retail and residential environments, corporate interiors, educational facilities, hotels, restaurants and spas. Reference installations and clients include: Aston Martin, Irish Film Centre, Next Retail, Grand Hyatt Hotels, Bain and Company.
